This inaugural edition brings together bold and thought-provoking scholarship that centers Africa, Africological thought, and the lived realities of African and Afro-descendant peoples across history, culture, education, and politics. Anchored by the spirit of Sankɔfa—the call to return to the past in order to move forward—the issue explores Africa-centered narratives, Pan-African intellectual traditions, and critical reflections on identity, survival, democracy, and social transformation.

From foundational discussions on Africology (Black/African Studies) to historical analyses of segregation and structural oppression, this edition offers a multidisciplinary examination of African realities and global Black experiences. It further highlights the role of culture, education, and critical agency in shaping future generations, while engaging contemporary political discourse on democracy, governance, and Africa’s transformation.

As the first issue of Volume 1, this edition sets the tone for a journal committed to intellectual rigor, decolonial inquiry, and the elevation of African voices in global scholarship.
