About AJMS

An international, double-blind, refereed, peer-reviewed open-access journal dedicated to Africa-centered media scholarship.

African Journal of Media and Society (AJMS) is an international, double-blind, refereed, peer-reviewed online academic journal providing open access to all content. Published by AfroNova Media in Accra on a rolling basis, it aims to strengthen links between research and practice in media, culture, and society in Africa and its diaspora.

Topics and Themes

The topics suggested by AJMS can be discussed in terms of concepts, state-of-the-art research, standards, implementations, running experiments, applications, and industrial case studies. All tracks are open to both research and industry contributions. The journal also welcomes publications of high-quality papers on theoretical developments and practical applications. Papers are solicited from, but not limited to, the following themes:

  • Social and Cultural Understanding
  • Media and Their Effects on Global Africa
  • Governance and Entrepreneurship

AJMS provides a space for researchers, practitioners, and theoreticians to jointly explore ideas using an eclectic mix of research methods and disciplines. It brings together empirical research, action research, and case studies to assist in the transfer of best practice, the development of policy, and the creation of theory. Thus, AJMS appeals to a wide-ranging audience of researchers, policymakers, practitioners, government officers, and other professionals involved in education for development around the world.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
